Harlin Hathaway, five year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Eljay Hathaway, who lived northwest of Tingley, died about four o'clock Sunday morning from complications following an attack of scarlet fever. He had been ill about four weeks. Brief funeral services were held in the yard at the home by Rev. G.E. Carnahan of Shannon City, no public funeral being permitted because of the contagious nature of the disease. Burial was made in the Tingley Cemetery.
