She was born in Patrick County on May 6, 1932 to the late Lewis Stephon Chaney and Ella Parker Chaney.
In addition to her parents, Miss Chaney was preceded in death by five brothers: Raymond, Roscoe, Amon, Henry and Tom Chaney; two sisters: Ollie and Lena Chaney and an infant sister.
She was a member of Union Primitive Baptist Church.
Miss Chaney is survived by a sister, Belle Chaney, of Stuart; a sister-in-law, Lera Everine Chaney, of Stuart; nine nieces and three nephews.
A graveside service will be held Friday, June 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chaney Family Cemetery with Pastor Mark Terry officiating.
The family will receive friends at Union Primitive Baptist Church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mae Chaney Memorial Fund, c/o Moody Funeral Home, P.O. Box 307, Stuart, Virginia 24171.
