Ruth Ester Myers, age 86, of Highlandville, died Saturday, November 4, 2006, in St. John's Hospital. She was born July 2, 1920, at Summit, Iowa, to Floyd and Edna Fullerton Holliday. In 1942, she and Edward W. Voss were married in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded Ruth in death in 1966. Ruth married Clifford L. Myers in 1973. Clifford preceded her in death in 2000. Ruth was past president of the Davenport Womens Club and a member of the Nixa Womens Club. She served as Queen of the Red Hattitude Gals Chapter of the Red Hat Society. Ruth was an artist and craft person. She worked at Yonkers Department Store and was a homemaker. She was a classy lady with a sharp mind and wit who always had a project going. Ruth enjoyed living independently. She loved living each day and kept up daily with what was happening in the world. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Harriett Ashby, Monmouth, Iowa, and nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Marie Holliday and Edith Baer; a brother, Floyd Holliday, III; and a sister-in-law, Doris McLafferty. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with visitation immediately before the service at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be on Friday in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport Iowa.
