He was born October 14, 1945.
Mel dearly loved his wife of forty-four years, Dorothy; his kids, grandkids, and the Lord Jesus Christ. After Dorothy's passing, his special companion was Jenny Kellogg.
Mel believed happiness was a choice and he reflected that in his life no matter his health or his circumstances. He always made time for everyone and he loved whenever friends or family came to visit. He was well-known for leaving l-o-n-g and humorous voicemail messages if he hadn't heard from you in a while. He resided in Utah and Wyoming.
During his lifetime, he had a love for raising animals which "kept him going." This passion included horses, ponies, budgies, rabbits, peacocks, Australian Shepherds, sheep, and pygmy goats. He also loved hunting and leatherwork.
He is survived by his wife, Jenny Kellogg Broadhead; children, Elaina and Dwain Wade, Teresa and Jim Newton, Scott and Annette Broadhead, Tammy Carlston, and Kirk Broadhead; and a special nephew, Cory Michael McPhie. He has thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, as well as two brothers and a sister: Ken and Von Broadhead, Ray and LaRae Broadhead, and Darlene Green. He is preceded in death by his sweetheart, Dorothy; an infant daughter, Diane; parents, Eric and Eldora; and sister, Vera.
He will be greatly missed!
Graveside services will be held at Redwood Memorial Estates Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road (1700 West), on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.
