Leatrice F. Burnham, 73, passed away on June 16, 2016, with her loving family by her side, from brain cancer, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.

Lee was born in Sanford on May 24, 1943, the daughter of Herman and Irene (Brulotte) Farrell.

After graduating from Sanford High School in 1961, Lee went to work in Sanford businesses, W T Grant's, Credit Bureau, Seamloc Carpet, and Sanford Trust. She retired from the York County Federal Credit Union where she was well liked and respected by her customers and co-workers. Lee was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ruth Chapter of Springvale.

Lee married William Burnham and they were blessed with one son, Jeffrey. As a family, they enjoyed camping and had many trips to Canada and traveled throughout this great country of ours. Many fond memories were made when they traveled to England, Scotland and Ireland. Lee's personality consisted of sweetness, fun and genuine caring. She enjoyed knitting hats and mittens for children so they could play out in the snow!

Lee was a very proud grandmother to Matthew and Emily. She loved to watch Matthew play hockey and lacrosse. She could be found on the side lines when Emily was a member of the Odyssey of the Mind team and when she played lacrosse. With Lee's love of music, she gave Emily her piano, her bells and was excited to hear her play the guitar. First and foremost, Lee was devoted to her husband and family.

Lee could strike up a conversation with anyone she met. She enjoyed her friends at Dunkin Donuts, her other family, the monthly meetings with her classmates, but most of all her friendship with Donna Fields.

Lee was a woman of grace, style and class. A true gem of a lady, who will be forever cherished and deeply missed by her family and many friends.

Lee is survived by her husband of 52 years, William Burnham; their son, Jeffrey Burnham; her grandson, Matthew and granddaughter Emily; her sister, Patricia of Sanford; her children that she became very close to, Earl and his wife Diana, Keith, Scott and his wife Irene; Michael and his wife Deborah; Deborah and her husband Anthony; Cindy and her husband Norman; Ethel and her husband Larry; her brother, Clifford of Evergreen, CO; and his children, Leslie, Michael and April Dawn.

A Celebration of Lee's life will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Alfred Parish Church, 12 Kennebunk Rd., in Alfred.

Committal prayers and burial will be private at the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale.

The Autumn Green Funeral Home, 47 Oak Street, in Alfred is respectfully handling arrangements.
