Saltillo- Ruthie Odell Beavers Hawn 89, long time resident of Saltillo, Ms transitioned to her eternal life on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. She was born March 16, 1927 in Lexington, Alabama to Benny Price Beavers and Lola Hamner Beavers from Killen, Al. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1946. Over the years she worked at the clothing factory in Saltillo and in sales/service at S.H. Kress and Walgreens Drugstore.

Ruthie married the love of her life Victor Zane Hawn, on June 10, 1950 and they had 66 wonderful years together working side by side to raise their three children. She was the forever faithful wife following wherever her husband’s work took them. Since she was an excellent employee in any job she put her mind to she didn’t have any problems finding work anywhere they went. They traveled from Mississippi, Alabama, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California and back again to Mississippi.

My mother will always be my shining star in the darkness of the night. She lived her life as a devout, steadfast member of the Church of Christ. She was always outgoing and friendly to all the people who met her. She was a friend and comfort to those who needed her. She gave of herself a loving spirit to encourage others to give of themselves. The lucky ones who knew her will always remember what a great lady she was.

Ruthie is preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Wisdom McGee and her brother, George Beavers.

She is survived by her husband, Victor Zane Hawn; her sisters, Jessie Simpson, Laurie Johnson (Joe), Mary Grigsby, Elizabeth Ann Cooper, Frances Harrison, and Margaret Allen; her three children, Teresa Stiel (Jim), Donna Robinson (Jerrell) and John Alan Hawn; nine grandchildren, Jason Kimbrough, Jared Robinson, Tabitha Stiel, Katie Kelly (Mike), Shelly Donahu, Andrew Stiel, Amanda Sims (Michael), Kristin Hawn, Chelsey Jones (Jacob); also a numerous great, step and “adopted” children, Grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to Sanctuary Home Hospice for their faithful caring attentiveness to make mother’s transition as easy as possible. They were and invaluable service.

Services will be held Friday at 11:00 A.M. at the Mayfield Church of Christ in Saltillo. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Brother Larry Lott will be officiating. Burial will be at Beech Springs Cemetery in Tupelo, MS.
