SHEPHERD, Albert E. "Al", 89 of South Lebanon passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at his residence . Born May 21, 1921 in Holmes Co., Miss., the son of Robert and Lillie (Black) Shepard, he was highly regarded in his community as a great Patriot and Public Servant. A proud US Army Veteran of WWII and continuing as a career Army Officer for 26 years, retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant, he relocated to South Lebanon in the mid sixties and served as Village Police Chief, two terms as Mayor of South Lebanon, and was the Court Administrator of the Warren County Probate- Juvenile Court for many years. A former member of the South Lebanon United Methodist Church, he was a loving father, grandfather and husband, he was a true Southern Gentleman and a friend to all that knew him. Preceded in death by his parents, first wife Ella Shepard, son Larry Shepard, he is survived by his wife Margaret (McCoy) Shepard and son Robert Shepard, both of South Lebanon, daughter Brenda Toler of Middletown, brother Sam Shepard and sister Martha Kirkwood, both of Mississippi, grandchildren Erica and Bobby Shepard, Shannon Wichterman, Amy Melton, Rodney Leath and Linda McIntosh and great -grandchildren Cory, Carli and Carter Wichterman. Visitation was Sunday evening with funeral service on Monday, April 25, 2011 all at the Stine- Kilburn Funeral Home, Lebanon with Rev. Steve Tufts officiating. Burial was in the Deerfield cemetery, South Lebanon with full Military Honors presented by the Mason VFW Memorial Team.
