Edward M. “Grovey” Grove, 65, died Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Linda Lee (Heaps) Grove and they celebrated 26 years of marriage December 26, 2015.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm Thursday, June 16, 2016, at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm with the Rev. Dr. Peggy Click officiating. Interment will be in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Shrewsbury.

Born June 8, 1951, in York, Ed was the son of the late Jesse B. and Luticia Elda (Minnick) Grove. He had been employed at Vintage Oaks Horse Farm, of New Freedom. He was previously employed at Weyerhaeuser, of New Freedom, from the 1970’s until it closed. An avid hunter, Ed enjoyed the simple pleasure of mowing at his home and at work.

Surviving in addition to his wife are five children, Kate L. Grove, Kristie L. Grove, and James Reever, all of Glen Rock, Melissa Lovell, of Virginia, and Heather Matson, of Dover, PA; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Jesse Grove, and his wife Vicki, of Stewartstown, and a sister, Joan Routson, of York. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Grove.
