A sudden heart attack, suffered at his home about 3 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon, brought death to August Fredrichsen, for forty years a respected resident of the Big Stone community. He had been ill for several days with a heart ailment and complications.

The Rev. L.C. Milliken will be assisted by the Rev. A.A. Bergland of Revillo at funeral services to be held Saturday beginning at the home at half past one and continuing at the Tabor Evangelical church at two o'clock.

Mr. Fredrichsen, who came to Big Stone in 1903 from Nebraska, was born November 29, 1859, in Denmark, but at the age of five moved with his parents to Germany, where he received his education and his training in the Christian church, being confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the age of 16.

Upon completion of his schooling, Mr. Fredrichsen taught near Hamburg for a couple of years, but in 1884 left Germany to come to the United States, arriving in Iowa on March 26, 1884.

The following year, on March 23, 1885, he was united in marriage at Walnut, Iowa, to Miss Catherine Johannsen, and to the union eleven children were born, namely: Mrs. Gustave Schultz (Anna), Milbank; Fredrick, Nick, Herman, Albert, Martin, Mrs. Denver Smith (Mathilda), Alma, Frank, Mary and Rose, the latter two being twins, all of who live in the Big Stone community. Mrs. Fredrichsen passed away on May 14, 1931.

The first few years of their married life, Mr. and Mrs. Fredrichsen spent at Walnut, Iowa, but moved to Nebraska in 1889, there to operate a farm near Hubbard for 11 years. In the fall of 1902, however, they sold the Nebraska place and in the spring of 1903 the family moved to Big Stone. Here Mr. Fredrichsen engaged in farming for more than a quarter century before retiring to live in Big Stone in April 1930.

A devoted father and a good neighbor, Mr. Fredrichsen will be missed by his family and a wide circle of friends, which he numbered with his acquaintances.

Note: According to the death certificate, August's father was Fredrick Fredrichsen/Fredrickson and his mother was Anna Paulson. There are several spelling variations of the last name.
