Dannie Hughes
Born: January 20, 1888 in New Columbus (Owen County), KY to John William Hughes (1855-1934) and Nancy Jane Morgan Hughes (Morgan) (1865-1949).
Siblings: Elzie Hughes (1883-1886); Gusty Hughes (1889[91]-1911); Hallie Hughes Kenney (1894-1987); Zora Hughes Cook (1900-1971); Zelma Hughes Kennedy (1900-79).
Dannie married Birdie Agnes Lucas in 1910 after they met while working on a farm in Fayette County, Kentucky. They returned to New Columbus, KY where their children were born and later moved to Lexington, KY. Dannie then returned alone to Williamstown (Grant County), Kentucky and continued to farm. He then married Toledo McCormick, who predeceased him.
Children: William (Bill) Lee Hughes (1911-1938); Zelma Lillian Hughes Barnhill Crowe (1914-1993); Annie May Hughes Fryer (1916-1995); and Dorman D. Hughes (1924-1950).
Grandchildren: Judith Fryer (1943 - ); Brenda Gail Hughes (1948- ); David Dodd Hughes Wade (1951 - ); William (Billy) Dee Fryer (1951 - )
Dannie died of pneumonia, a complication of a stroke, on March 6, 1968 in Williamstown, KY.
Dannie Hughes was my maternal grandfather.
