Carole Jean Johnson, 83, of Genoa, Nebraska, died Monday, June 6, 2016, at the Genoa Community Hospital.
The funeral service will be Friday, June 10, 10:30 A.M. at Augustana Lutheran Church with Rev. Josh Feala and Rev. Vern Olson officiating. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the church and on Friday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 10:15 A.M.
Jean was born April 20, 1933, in Genoa, to Mauritz and Ruth (Whitaker) Holmstedt. She grew up in Genoa and graduated from Genoa High School in 1950. On November 18, 1950, Jean was united in marriage to Lloyd Johnson in Grand Island, Nebraska. They farmed their entire lives in rural Genoa. Jean helped on the farm and also taught school at several country schools for many years. Family was very important to Jean. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jean always enjoyed when family would stop over, inviting them to help with a puzzle, play a game of cards, or just have a bite to eat. Jean also liked to make quilts, cook for family, and play bingo. She was a member of the SkeeDee Homemakers Club,the Cousins Club, and served on the Nance County Fair Board for many years.
