VIRGINIA HOLLIS KERNAGHAN, 87, of Alvin, Texas, known by many as Ginny, or as Drama Mama by many of her students, went to be with our most loving God on Monday, June 6, 2016. She passed away peacefully in her home in Alvin, where she lived, worked, and raised her family since the 1960s. She was born July 31, 1928 to Kincy L. Hollis and Susan J. Sweet Hollis in Elmina, Texas.

Virginia was a very loving and kind friend who always wanted you to know how special you are and how much she thought of you. She was a speech, drama, and English teacher at Alvin Junior High for 30 years. She honestly loved her job and every student she taught.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Kernaghan; her parents; brother, Bubba Hollis; and sisters: Lilamae Baskin, Lewelyn Graham, Bonnie Pollard and Minnie Lee Runnels.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Susan Ney-Wages; granddaughter, Wendy Aparicio and husband Doug; great-grandchildren: Haley Stevens and Miles Aparicio and granddaughter, Brandy Carlson Grubbs and husband Roger; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Sadie Carlson; special children: Gary and Linda Moore, Peter and Jo Ney, and family, Carmen Sawyer and family; there are so many she considered family and friends, too many to list on paper, she loved you all.
