She was born in Rock Island, Ill., June, 1846, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. August M. Littig, pioneer residents of the Tri-Cities. The home in which Mrs. Metzger was born was on the site of the present Harper House. She came to Davenport at the age of one, and had since resided here. In August, 1867, she was married to Diedrich Metzger in Lyon, IA. She was a member of the G.A.R. Relief corps.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Winifred Karwath of Davenport; three grandchildren, Earl F., and Louis G. of Davenport, and Mrs. Elmner Schuer also of this city; three great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Littig of Cammanche, Ia. Her husband preceded her in death.
The body was taken to the Runge chapel where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday with burial in Oakdale cemetery."
