Macon, GA- Macon- Bernice Lindsey Jones, 86, went to be with her Lord on June 4, 2016.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Stone Creek Baptist Church in Dry Branch, Georgia with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation with the family will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Dr. Donnie Sutton, her pastor for many years, will officiate. Her grandsons, nephews, and close family friends will be pallbearers.
Bernice Jones was born September 26, 1929, in Americus, Georgia to the late Troy and Maude (Rachel) Lindsey. She graduated from Americus High School and attended college at Georgia Southwestern College in Americus, Georgia. She worked as a teacher, bank teller, medical secretary and later as a banking administrator for Macon Federal Bank now known as BB&T.
She was a homemaker for many years and loved to bake, decorate cakes and was an excellent seamstress. Her favorite job was being a mother to Janet, Beth and Craig and later a grandmother (Mema) and great-grandmother. Bernice was regularly described as one of sweetest and kindest persons ever known by all who had the privilege to meet her. She loved butterflies and enjoyed collecting all types of lapel pins and butterfly paraphilia.
She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Billy W. Jones, daughters Janet J Nichols, Beth R. Jones, and son, Craig T. Jones; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; brothers Charles K. Lindsey (wife Margie), and Donald Lindsey (wife Grace).
Her brother Troy C. Lindsey (Buddy) proceeded her in death.
Pallbearers: Paul, Brian, David, Mark, Steve, and Chuck.
