Mrs. Celinda Peiffer died Sunday morning, June 3, at 9 o'clock at Hiawatha hospital, of a complication of diseases. She had been bedfast only 3 days. She was born Aug. 2, 1837. She had the distinction of having the longest residence in Hiawatha, coming here when she was but 19 years old. Her husband, Edward S. Peiffer, died 20 years ago. She is survived by 3 sons: Tom Cummins, Earl Peiffer of Hiawatha; Seth C. Englehart, of Cortez, Colo. She is a sister of John Barnum. She had a host of friends. Until the last few years when she has been in failing health, she had a fund of humor that all who met her shared. The funeral was held at Congregational church Tuesday afternoon, June 6.
