Nancy May Smith passed away peacefully to be with her family and Lord on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at the home of her longtime friend. She was born Sept. 6, 1945, in Lewiston, to William Newton Smith and Violet May Wade Smith. She was the youngest of three. Brother Donald J. Smith and sister Janis Marie Smith both passed before her. Her parents and her aunt, Francis Wade Boyd, also preceded her in death.

Nancy spent most of her life in Pomeroy, staying close to family. She worked at Garfield County Hospital as a certified nursing assistant and then as activities director until she retired. She drove the county van for several years after she retired. Nancy and her family were very active in the United Methodist Church as well as the Rebekah Lodge.

Nancy attended Kinman Business College in Spokane for a year after graduating from Pomeroy Junior and Senior High School. Nancy had such a love for life, her family, and others. She could not walk down the streets of Pomeroy without stopping numerous times to visit or tell a joke. Nancy never knew a stranger; she would stop to start a conversation with anyone!

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Richardson Brown Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Memorials can be sent to Pomeroy United Methodist Church.
