Mrs. Owens was born in Scotland Neck, N.C. She retired from Chesapeake public schools after 15 years. She was the widow of John A. Owens Sr. and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Jeanette Livingston of Norfolk, Rosa Mack of Chesapeake and Dorothy Clark of Virginia Beach; three sons, John A. Owens Jr., Leroy Owens and Robert L. Owens; and a brother, Herbert Britton, all of Norfolk; 26 grandchildren; and 44 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church, Campostella, by the Rev. Harold Cason. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. Pretlow & Sons Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
