Funeral for Drexel Ray Phillips of Attalla will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Morgan Funeral home at 3 p.m. with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Rev. Earl Mitchell will officiate. Interment is at Oak Hill Cemetery, Attalla. Morgan Funeral Chapel & Crematory directing.
Ray was born to H.P. and Novella Robbins Phillips on September 11, 1934, in Blount county, AL, and moved to Attalla at an early age where he resided until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Preston Phillips and Houston Phillips; and sister and brother-in-law, Lois and John Stanfield.
Ray was a member of the Attalla First Baptist Church. He was retired from LTV Steel Company and the Alabama Air National Guard. Ray was a charter member of the Attalla Lions Club and past master of the Attalla Masonic Lodge. Also, he was an avid golfer and an excellent bowler
