Carl H. Roan, age 87, of 2557 Second St., Bloomsburg (Espy) died Friday evening May 27, 2016 at his residence, where he lived his entire life.
Born in Espy on February, 2, 1929, he was the son of the late Albert and Irene (Trump) Roan. Carl graduated from the former Scott Twp. High School in 1947. He was employed first at the former Magee Carpet Co. for 26 years as a Quality Control Supervisor and later for Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in rest area maintenance for 19 years, retiring in 1991.
Mr. Roan was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Espy, Washington Lodge #265, F. & A. M., Caldwell Consistory, a Life Member of Espy Fire Co., and the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge #436. He served as a Scott Township Supervisor for several years, and on the Columbia County Democratic Committee. He took great pride in his garden, especially his tomato plants that he generously shared with neighbors and friends. He had pride for his family, especially his grandson, Brett. He was an expert carpenter and spent many hours on his home projects as well as for others. In his younger days he belonged to bowling and golf leagues.
Carl was preceded in death by two brothers; John and Arden Roan and three sisters; Helen (Roan) Fenstermacher, Miriam (Roan) Knorr and Martha (Roan) Starr.
He is survived by his wife the former Anna T. Lesnefsky, with whom he celebrated a 65th wedding anniversary on July 1, 2015; a daughter Lou Ann wife of Barry Justice, Lansdale, a grandson Brett Justice, Philadelphia and numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. in St. John Lutheran Church, 2575 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg (Espy) with his pastor, Rev. Gordon E. Smith, officiating. Interment in Creveling Cemetery, Almedia.
