Theodore "Ted" Beckmeyer was born to Theodore and Mary (Mobius) Beckmeyer on December 1, 1928 in Hartford, Washington. He passed away after an extended illness on May 19, 2016 at age 87 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Snohomish, Washington in the loving care of his family and Evergreen Hospice. Ted grew up in Snohomish attending Zion Lutheran School and Snohomish High School, then Columbia University and the University of Washington where he received a PhD. in Deaf Education. He served in Korea, in the United States Army, from 1951 to 1953. Ted taught deaf and hard-of-hearing children for the majority of his career in the Seattle Public Schools.
Ted is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Morris; and his sister, Martha. He is survived by his wife, Claretta Joy (Erdman) Beckmeyer, married for almost 60 years; his sister, MaryAnne; his children: Mark, Judy, Matthew and Dwight; and numerous other family and friends. The graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Snohomish. Following the graveside service, a Memorial Service, will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Snohomish, WA.
