Miriam's father, Adam Bellinder, was a Cossack soldier in the Russian Army. The assassination of Czar Nicholas and the subsequent Russian Revolution brought tremendous suffering to Russia. With money sent by his brother in America, he left Kamenka, Russia, in 1919 for Wamego, Kansas. He got his job with the Union Pacific Railroad.

Several years later some more of his family made the trip from Russia to Kansas. While helping out during harvest, Adam met Catherine Brungardt. They were married July 12, 1921. Their first child, Miriam, was born in Wamego on April 30, 1922. Her four brothers were Raphael, Vitus, Vernon, and Marvin. Her two sisters were Rita Scheck and Bernadette Baier.

When Miriam was one, the family moved to Victoria. A couple of years after graduation she became the clerk at Braun's Grocery. There she met the butcher. They were married July 19, 1944. They had four sons; Ronald, Clifford, Lloyd, and John who was stillborn. Their two daughters were Mary Bittle and Rose Brown.

When the grocery sold out in 1950's, Andrew went to work for Rohleder's Garage. He later became a painting contractor. After retirement he became the handyman for Father Neal and Father Felix at St. Fidelis Church.
