Bernadette J. Baier, 80, Lincoln, Neb., formerly of LaCrosse, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Holmes Lake Manor, Lincoln.
She was born July 3, 1933, in Victoria to Adam and Catherine (Brungardt) Bellendir. She was a 1951 graduate of Victoria High School.
She married Roy W. Baier on Jan. 15, 1955, in Victoria. They made their home in LaCrosse for 52 years before he preceded her in death April 4, 2007.
She was a member of St. Michael's Parish Council, Liturgy Council, Social Affairs and Religious Education commissions, taught religion classes, and was a Cub Scout leader.
After her retirement from the Rush County Clerk's office, she spent time working in her yard, garden, flower beds and enjoyed her roses. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, making quilts, baking cookies and her grandchildren.
She moved to Hays in 2009, and then to Lincoln in 2013 to be closer to her family.
Survivors include three sons, Mark J. Baier and wife, Julia L., Bloomington, Ill., Robert J. Baier and wife, Jo Ann, Andover, and Richard J. Baier and wife, Amanda K., Lincoln; a sister, Miriam Wasinger, Victoria; and four in-laws, Ed Scheck, Russell, Mary Agnes Norwood, Leavenworth, Vera Bellendir, Great Bend, and Katie Bellendir, Victoria; and seven grandchildren, Melissa Baier, Jeremy Baier and wife, Jenna, Skyler Ashley, Jared Baier, Julianne Leitzel and husband Steven, Matthew Baier and Corinne Baier.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Joseph Baier; and infant brother, Vitus Bellendir, four brothers, Vitus Bellendir, Ralph Bellendir, Vernon Bellendir and Marvin Bellendir; and a sister, Rita Scheck.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Michael Catholic Church, LaCrosse; burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in St. Boniface Cemetery, Vincent.
