Indian Valley Pioneer Passes

Carmack Powers passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lida Edson at Susanville on October 30 at the age of 79 years. He was a native of Illinois.

He was married Ada Isabell Hamilton on November 25, 1880. His body was interred in the Taylorville Cemetery Sunday afternoon November 1, beside his wife, who died several years ago.

He leaves to mourn his loss, Sadie Stark of Johnstonville, Rachel Kelly of Greenville, Lida Edson of Susanville, Amy Hardgrave of Taylorsville and Fay Buchard of Susanville; two sons Walter and Wallace Powers of Sacramento, and many grandchildren and other relatives.

Many friend from all around the Indian Valley and several distant places attended the funeral. The Rev. Stanley Webster conducted the funeral service. The funeral was directed by Kenneth B. Murray. The choir sang "Sometime We'll Understand" and two solos were redered at the grave.
