Geneva(Van Der Wiede) Wichers was born May 30, 1936 in Boyden, Iowa to Arie and Jennie (Kooiker) Van Der Wiede. Geneva was raised at Boyden, Iowa. She Attended country school and finished her education at Sioux Center.
On January 24, 1956 she was united in marriage to Russell Wichers at her parent's home near Boyden, Iowa. They made their home in Sioux Center. During her life she worked on the family dairy farm, at Dairy Queen, and at Sioux Center Community Hospital for 25 years.
She had been a member of Maurice First Reformed Church and more recently a member of New Life Reformed Church in Sioux Center. Over the years she served as an organist and pianist and assisted at church functions.
Geneva enjoyed square dancing, sewing, crocheting, playing accordion, milking cows, gardening, canning, cooking, and riding motorcycle. She was fond of spending time with family.
Surviving Geneva Wichers are ; ten children and spouses: Barbara & Larry Lucht, Valerie & Perry Dykstra, Gary & Donna Wichers, Roger & Audrey Wichers, Pamela & Steve Stienstra, Teresa & Dale Kurth, Marjorie Wichers, Patty Kossak, Daniel Wichers, Russell Jr & Lynn Wichers along with 39 grandchildren and 61 great grandchildren.
Geneva is also survived by five brothers and sisters: Dennis and Nancy Van Der Wiede of Boyden, IA; Norman and Ada Van Der Wiede of Grand Rapids, MI; Orville and Audrey Pluim of Rock Valley, IA; John and Lavonne Van Middendorp of Lynden, WA; Bud and Marge Van Der Wiede of Hudsonville, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Wichers Sr. her parents Arie and Jennie Van Der Wiede, and family members: Dorothy Vande Weerd, Clara Scholten, and Willie Can Der Wiede.
