She was the daughter of Andrew Jackson "Jack" and Nancy Ardena (Sherrill) Hill and married Gaylor Ernest "Joe" Hayes 31 Oct 1936 - Franklin Co., Tennessee. Her obituary follows:

Hazel Irene (Hill) Hayes, 82, of 5912 Old Alto Highway, Decherd, died Sunday, September 25, at Southern Tennessee Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, Gaylor Earnest Hayes of Decherd; two daughters, Myra Nell Hayes of Decherd, and Ardena Jean Hayes Edde of Lavergne; a son, Roy Wayne Hayes of Huntland; three sisters, Virginia Crownover of Murfreesboro, Edith Patterson of Pelham, and Lillian Baker of Decherd; a brother, Houston Hill of Decherd; and one grandchild, Robert Ryan Edde of Lavergne. Funeral services are Tuesday, September 27 at 1 p.m. from Watson-Gamble Chapel with Bro. Ralph Hart officiating. Burial in in Mount Garner Cemetery in Decherd.
