OBITUARY-ETHEL GARVIE-MOORELAND, OKLAHOMA
Ethel Garvie, 90, a longtime resient of the Mooreland area, died Monday evening in the Mooreland Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Mooreland Assembly of God with the Rev. Terry Tipp, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery at Quinlan, under direction of Billings-Knittel Funeral Service, Mooreland.
The former Ethel Minnie Finley, Mrs. Garvie was born January 8, 1892, in Riley County, Kansas to William Finley and May Hawley Finley, and as a child moved with her parents to the Cedardale-Garvie community. She attended Cedardale School. On January 27, 1909, she and William Garvie were married. They made their home in the Garvie community where they farmed until moving to Mooreland in 1949. William Garvie died February 7, 1960.
The past seven years, she had resided at the Mooreland Golden Age Nursing Center. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Surivors include one son, Glenn Garvie, and one daughter, LaVerna Gingrich, both of Alva; one brother, Vernon Finley, Rolla, Missouri; 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
