Morris A. "Butch" Steen, 63, of Bent, died Monday, Oct. 23, at his home.

Mr. Steen was born Aug. 6, 1943 in Groom, Texas, to Charles Edwin and Buelah Josephine (Burgett) Steen, and grew up in Canyon, Texas. After graduating from high school in Canyon, he attended West Texas State University. At time of his death he was a mechanic for Otero County Electric Co-Op. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mayhill.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Linda Steen, of the family home; two sons, Mark Steen and his wife Kay, of Roswell, and Scott Steen and his wife Amie, of Dexter; a daughter, Jill Griffin and her husband John, of Roswell; eight grandchildren, Krista Chavez and Amanda Chavez, of Roswell, Casey Steen, Brooke Steen and Nolan Steen, of Dexter, and Casey Griffin and his wife Brittany, Bailey Griffin, and Kirsten Griffin, all of Roswell; two great-grandchildren, Kylyn Thompson and Zoey Griffin, of Roswell; two brothers, Louis Steen and his wife Clydell, of Sweetwater, Texas, and Buddy Steen and his wife Donna, of Mansfield, Texas; five sisters, Marie Carney, of Lamesa, Texas, Jo Carthel, of Plainview, Texas, Charlotte Carthel and her husband Cecil, of Lockney, Texas, Monita Benham and her husband Speck, of Canyon, Texas, and Martha Myers, of Odessa, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Buster Steen.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the Hamilton-O'Dell Chapel with Charles R. Walker officiating.

Interment will follow in Mountain Acres Cemetery in Mayhill.

Pallbearers will be J.P. Whipple, Ray Rush, Saben Lesentine, Mike Testerman, Gary Coleman and Donnie Shafer. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Mershon, Tom E. Runyan, Eddy Coleman, Preston Stone, Bill Bird, Casey Steen and Casey Griffin.
