East Palestine Rich H. Bolon, 74, of West North Avenue, passed away at 4:40 a.m., Monday, May 23, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Boardman Campus, where he had been a patient for the past five days.

Rich was born July 26, 1941 in Columbus, a son of the late James and Ann Zorinich McCarthy, Jr., and had resided in the East Palestine area since 1955, coming from Bessemer, PA. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed with area trucking firms as a dispatcher, and was a U.S. Army Veteran.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1506, the East Palestine Country Club, and the Croatian Club of Bessemer, PA.

Rich is survived by his wife, the former Mary Lou Peters Tyson, whom he married February 24, 1973; three sons, Thomas (Jennifer) Bolon, Hudson, Robert (Maggie) Tyson, Chandler, AZ, and Kip Bolon; and a daughter, Lori (Sam) Greene, East Palestine. He also leaves two brothers, Terrance (Dawn) Bolon, Mint Hill, NC and Thomas (Linda) Bolon, Columbiana; four grandchildren, Mike and Matt Greene, Kiersten and Zack Bolon, and one great granddaughter, Charlotte.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack McCarthy.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark McTrustry of the Centenary United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday.

My Uncle was a man who was loved and respected by many. He was larger than life and had a voice that could part the seas. He will always be remembered as a loving and devoted man who loved his family more than you could imagine.
