WATERVILLE - Roger H. DeRocher, 93, of Winslow, died on Wednesday, May 18, 2016. He was born in Waterville on Aug. 23, 1922, the son of Charles and Georgianna (Bizier) DeRocher. He graduated from Waterville High School, Class of 1942.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Manila Bay during WWII. He was honorably discharged as an Aviation Machinist's Mate Second Class. He was employed by Diamond National in Oakland and Scott Paper Company in Winslow as a machinist.

On June 19, 1948, he married Carmen Joseph at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Winslow with Rev. Frawley officiating. They had two daughters, Evelyn and Joan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, playing cribbage and spending time with family.

He is survived by his daughter Evelyn Ridley and her husband John of Crown Point, Ind.; three grandsons: Jeffrey Doyon and his husband Jim of Winslow; Roger Ridley of Crown Point, Ind.; Scott Doyon and his wife Sara of Clinton; two great-granddaughters: Renda of Clarksville, Tenn., and Ashlee of Clinton; a special niece, Jackie Rioux; special friends, Ronnie and Peggy Caouette; plus several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Carmen in 2004; his daughter Joan; his brothers: Donald and Charles; and his sister Vernette.

A special thank you goes to Sara Doyon for her devotion to his care. Also, special thanks to the 2nd floor staff at Mount St. Joseph for their care and compassion.
