She graduated from Waterville High School and worked for F.W. Woolworth in Waterville and Skowhegan as a lunch counter manager.
She was affiliated with Notre Dame Parish, was a member of Union St.Jean-Baptiste, Daughters of Isabella, Ladies of St Anne, Auxiliary of VFW and American Legion #5. She was a Girl Scout leader for three years, volunteered at Senior Spectrum/Muskie Center, also volunteered at the voting polls and at Thayer Hospital "Doll Factory."
She was predeceased by a sister, Gabrielle, a son, Leon; and brothers, Charles, Donald and Lionel. She is survived by her children, John and wife Betty (Westland) Giroux of Port Orange, Fla., Paul Giroux and companion Jeannine Audet of Winslow, Peter Giroux and husband Leonard Lavoie of Providence, R.I., and daughter, Dr. Gloria Giroux and husband Paul Potvin of Old Orchard. She also leaves behind a brother, Roger DeRocher of Winslow; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces.
