∼Joshua Brackett, a native of Berwick, was an early settler here, (Acton, ME)commencing on the place now the Baptist Parsonage in 1778. He was the first Town Clerk, which office he filled 15 years. He was a member of the first board of Selectmen, and served in all, 10 years. He had Job's number of children, seven sons and 3 daughter, and died Jan. 3, 1822, aged 93.
