Clyde Griffith, Jr., age 72, of Richlands, Virginia departed this life and left for his heavenly home on May
18, 2016 in a Richlands, Virginia hospital.

He was born on January 29, 1944 in Richlands, Virginia, and was the son of the late Clyde Griffith Sr. and Veta Goforth Griffith. He was a Vietnam War veteran whom served in the U.S. Army. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart as well as many other commendations. He was a very caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He attended New Hope Church in Claypool Hill, Virginia. He will be greatly missed by all of those who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, George Yates.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years: Sharon Bales Griffith

Son: Brian Griffith and wife, Amy of West Palm Beach, Florida

Sister: Brenda Yates

Brother: Kenneth Griffith and wife, Carole of Gastonia, North Carolina

Grandchildren: Lauren, Elizabeth and Lawson Griffith.

Funeral services for Clyde Griffith, Jr. will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Claudie Throgmartin and the Rev. David Horton officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Cemetery in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Michael Bales, Sr., Michael Bales, Jr., Kevin Bales, Jeff Bales, James Shortt and Brian Griffith. Members of the VFW Casey-Shortt Post# 9640 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call on Friday evening from 6-9pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia.
