SHELBY- Irene Fortenberry, 88, passed away Wednesday May 18, 2016 at Wendover Hospice. A native of Gaffney, SC, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Martha Ellen McSwain Allen. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a member of Westview Baptist Church.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, She is preceded in death by five brothers, Carson, Hood, Evans, J.D., and Gene Allen; one sister, Blanche Edmonson.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Bill Fortenberry of the home; one son, Billy Fortenberry and wife Christie; one daughter, Ellen Fortenberry all of Shelby; two grandchildren, Victoria Fortenberry and Hannah Fortenberry; many nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held 1pm Saturday at Westview Baptist Church.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 11:30 am to 1 pm Saturday at the church
