Wesley Don Deck Jr. passed away on May 7, 2016, at the age of 51, in Evanston, Wyo. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2016, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, with Minister Ron Colbert officiating.

Wes was born on May 19, 1965, to Wesley Don Deck and Helen (Herring) Deck in Ardmore. After the age of six, his father married Barbara Holybee and he was raised by them. He was a member of Maxwell Avenue Church of Christ. He attended and graduated from Ardmore High School with the Class of 1984.

After graduation, Wes enlisted in the United States Navy and graduated from Naval Basic Training at Naval Station Great Lakes, Chicago, and served his country as a Navigation Equipment Maintenance Technician, a Navigation Equipment Operator, and ended his career as an Instructor in Navigation Operations, and retired as a Petty Officer First Class in 2004. Wes served on many Navy submarines deployed in the oceans of the world, including the USS Dallas, a Los Angeles-class nuclear-powered attack submarine, and the USS Houston, a Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine. While in the Navy, he received many commendations and medals that included the Navy Expeditionary Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Navy Arctic Service Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Gold Star.

After his retirement from the Navy, he moved to Port Orchard, Wash., where he worked with The Catholic Community Services for two years. He worked with foster children, mainly supervising them on outings. Wes took a position with Orchard on the Green, a large apartment complex, for eight years as the maintenance supervisor. After the loss of his father in April 17, 2016, Wes made the decision to move back to Ardmore to be with his mother, Barbara Deck. He passed away on his way home.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Don Deck Sr.; mother, Helen Deck; and brother, Paul Winfield Deck.

Wes is survived by his mother, Barbara Deck of Ardmore; brother, Rusty Wayne Deck of Ardmore; uncles: Carroll Wayne Deck, and Charles Holybee and wife, Jan, all of Ardmore; and aunt, Dorthy Jean Finley and husband, Ed, of Lone Grove; numerous cousins and a host of family; and his many friends in Port Orchard, Wash., and the U.S. Navy.
