The 25 April 1983 obit for Alex Betz says that he was born Nov. 4, 1892, to Frederick and Julia (Mueller) Betz in Russia.
-------------------------------
Alexander Betz, age 11, arrived at Galveston, TX on 16 July 1906 from Bremen, Germany with his parents, Friedrich Betz, age 45 and his step-mother Anna Betz, age 33, along with his four siblings. Their last place of residence before immigrating to the US is shown to be Russia. The manifest shows that they were headed to Denver, Colorado to meet up with his step-mother's brother, Heinrich Schieber. From this last piece of information we can assume that his step-mother's maiden name was Anna E Schieber.

Social Security records for his half siblings reflect that their mother's name was "Anna E Miller", but "Miller" may be her last married name. It is known that Anna and Friedrich split up soon after their last child, William, was born. Frederick is found in the 1920 census in Keota, Weld County, CO living with his son, Alex Betz and family. Anna can be found in the 1920 census of Lafayette, Boulder County, CO married to Fred Haof, with her youngest three Betz children in the home. The death name, place or date for Anna has not been located.

Alexander Betz, subject of this memorial, married Christina Wells and together they had nine children, seven girls and two boys. Per his obit, at the time of his death Alex had 24 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
