Their last place of residence before immigrating to the US is shown to be Russia. The manifest shows that they were headed to Denver, Colorado to meet up with his step-mother's brother, Heinrich Schieber. From this last piece of information we can assume that his step-mother's maiden name was Anna E Schieber.
