Nina Hayes Banner, 93, of NC Hwy 105 South Boone, and a former resident of Sugar Grove, died Monday morning, December 13, 2010 at home.

Born Nov. 28, 1917 in Watauga County, she was a daughter of Leonard and Carrie Moody Hayes. Mrs. Banner was a member of Westside Baptist Church and a former member of Cove Creek Baptist Church. She was a sales clerk for Hunt's Department Store for 19 years.

Surviving are two daughters, one grandson, two great-granddaughters, three step-grandsons, two step-great granddaughters, and two step-great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, three brothers, and a sister-in-law, Lois Hayes of Boone.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Banner, one sister, Clara Baird, three brothers, Eugene, Raymond and Roger Hayes.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, Dec. l5, 2010 at 3 o'clock at the Cove Creek Baptist Church, officiated by her grandson, Rev. Anthony Teague, Rev. David Ward and Rev. Harold Danner. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1 until 3 o'clock, prior to services, at the church. Burial will follow in the Cove Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
