NEWPORT - Margaret Anna "Jo" Smelcer, 71, of Parrottsville, died Tuesday at her home after a battle with cancer.
She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Greeneville.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years: Claude Smelcer; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Cauley Smelcer and Chris and Elizabeth Smelcer, all of Parrottsville; a daughter and son-in-law: Penny and Chris Ramsey of Sevierville; two grandsons: Samuel Smelcer and Joshua Smelcer, both of Parrottsville; a granddaughter: Kriston Ramsey; a sister and brother-in-law: Ora Lee and Ronald Conard; three brothers and their wives: Mack Winter of Newport, James and Sherry Winter of Cosby, Roger Winter and Minnie Sue Winter; sisters-in-law and special friends: Marie Ottinger, Betty Winter, and Alice Rader, and a brother-in-law and his wife: Charles and Eldise Smelcer, all of Parrottsville; several nieces and nephews; a number of special friends; and special caregivers: the Smoky Mountain Hospice Nurses Jeff, Lee Ann, and Mack, and Chaplain Scott Gorrell.
She was a daughter of the late M.C. and Flora Winter and was preceded in death by a brother, John H. Winter.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Manes Funeral Home in Newport.
The funeral service will follow visitation at 8 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. Paster Bill Benedict and the Rev. Scott Gorrell will officiate.
A committal service will be held 11 o'clock Friday morning in St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery.
