He was a farmer and a member of St. James Lutheran Church.
Mr. Winter's family knew him as a devoted husband and father.
Survivors include his wife: Betty Winter; two sons: Johnny Winter of Greeneville, and Bob Winter of Parrottsville; a daughter: Pat Easterly of Greeneville; three grandchildren: Christopher Easterly, Leslie Winter, and Jonathan Winter; three brothers: Mack Winter of Newport, James Winter of Cosby, and Roger Winter of Parrottsville; two sisters: Anna Jo Smelcer and Ora Lee Conner, both of Parrottsville; and several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at Manes Funeral Home in Newport.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon in the funeral home chapel with Paul Reyelts, pastor, Vicar Barbara Gibson, and the Rev. Paul Jennings officiating.
Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery.
