Mrs. Lavina Caroline (Burkett) Love, wife of John M. Love, of Clarion Township, after a long illness which held her bedfast about three years, passed away at her home on Friday, October 16, 1931, at
3:30 a. m. The weary hours of suffering and sickness so patiently borne, passed into a merciful and peaceful passage to the spirit world to be forever with the Lord in whom she put her trust. Mrs. Love was a daughter of Samuel and Mary Colbaugh Burkett, and was born near Cool Spring, Jefferson County, on July 10, 1860. In that vicinity she grew to womanhood, and was married to John M. Love on August 22, 1894. Mr. Love survives his wife with the following children, namely: Cynthia, wife of Walter Nolph, of Brookville; Mary, wife of C. C. Servey, of Clarion; William Love, of Corsica; Mabel, Samuel and Walter Love, at home. Four grandchildren also survive with the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Elizabeth Reitz Mahaffey; Mrs. Mary Cochran, John Burkett, Abraham Burkett, and Emanuel Burkett, all of Markton; Mrs. Elmer Long, Cool Spring; Mrs. Emma Clontz, Sandy Valley, and George Burkett, Sigel. Mrs. Love early in life united with the Methodist Episcopal Church and has always been a true and faithful follower of her Master and found Him a great comforter through her long illness. She was always a very patient sufferer and thinking of saving her loved ones from any trouble. She will always be remembered as a kind, patient and loving wife and mother. All who knew her loved her because of her beautiful character. Her funeral was held at her late home Monday, Oct. 19th, the services being conducted by Rev. Dr. D. A. Platt. The interment was made in the Clarion Cemetery.
