Mary M. Freitas, 98 of Gustine passed away Friday, April 29th at her residence.
Mrs. Freitas was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts and was a resident of Gustine for 49 years. She was a parishioner of the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles in Gustine. She was a member of the YLI (Young Ladies Institute), Gustine Senior Citizens and enjoyed sewing, playing cards and traveling. Mary was happiest when she was surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Freitas is survived by her sons, David Jr. (Patsy) Freitas and Joe Freitas both of Newman; daughters, Margaret Borges of Davis, Gabriela Willy of Klamath Falls, Oregon and Mary Alice (Richard) Dabney of Gustine; brothers, Jorge Medeiros of Gustine and Joseph Medeiros of Newman; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and caregiver, Elida Ourique of Gustine. She was preceded in death by her husband, David J. Freitas, Sr.; granddaughter, Kristy Freitas and brother, Olimpio Medeiros.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm, Thursday, May 12th at the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles in Gustine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, May 13th at the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles in Gustine. Interment to follow at Hills Ferry Cemetery in Newman.
