In the fall of 1812, George enlisted at Falmouth in Capt. Michael Graves Co., served under Major McClannahan, and was "in the detachment of 800 men under General Winchester who were surprised and defeated by the British under General Proctor at Frenchtown in January 1813." Although he was taken prisoner by the British, he with few other soldiers, escaped and found their way back to KY. He was honorably discharged in March, 1813.
When Grant Co., KY was formed from Pendleton Co., KY in 1820, the name of George Myers was recorded in Grant Co. records until he purchased land in Sandcreek Twp. of Decatur Co., IN in 1828 and subsequently moved his family to that place where George and Margaret (Moore) Myers remained until their deaths. They were parents of eight children, five daughters and three sons.
