A brief illness was fatal here on Friday to Mrs. William Herndon, 26 well known and popular young Greenville woman.

Final rites will be observed at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Services will be held at the Neer and LyBrand chapel, and interment will be in East Mount cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Clarence Campbell, Guy Morrow, Bill Springer, Wayne Horton, Amos Butler, Obe Dickey and Fowler Webb. Honorary pallbearers will be all friends of the family.

Born in Greenville on January 18, 1912, Mrs. Herndon had resided in and near this city practically all of her life and was one of the best known young woman in this section. On January 22, 1938 she was married to William Herndon, and for several months they made their home in Dallas, returning to this city a few weeks ago.

Several years ago Mrs. Herndon embraced the teachings of Christianity and united with the Baptist church at Cedar Grove, southwest of Greenville. She was a splendid young Christian and had been active in the religious work of her community.

She is survived by her husband, one son, Elmer Lloyd Brown; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Mitchell of Greenville and four sisters, Mrs. J.O. Williams, Mrs. J.T. McCormack and Mrs. John Smithers, all of Greenville, and Mrs. J.P. Trimble of Dallas. One son preceded her in death about four years ago.

Funeral services were held at the Neer & Lybrand chapel at 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon for Mrs. William Herndon, who succumbed Friday.

Burial was in East Mount cemetery.
