He was born Dec. 17, 1951, in Cape Girardeau to Milford Lester and Elsa May Dow Hickam.
He attended Central High School in Cape Girardeau and graduated from Jackson High School.
He served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked in the warehouse for Procter & Gamble and retired in 2008.
He is survived by his fiancee, Patricia Ann Hecht of Jackson; two nieces; and special friends, Betty Koechig, Judy Downey, Bob Kohnen and Roger Lowe -- the Rook card players at the Jackson Senior Center, and especially Jenny Jones; and Veronica and Mary, his nurses from John Cochran Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Lester Hickam; two sisters, Dorothy May Hickam and C. Jane Hickam Smith; and a niece.
