John Bauknecht, 74, 3080 Colerain Pike, Martins Ferry, retired public school custodian, died Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the Martins Ferry Hospital. He was born in Martins Ferry, June 24, 1893, a son of the late Jacob and Hermine Herrier Bauknecht. His wife, Mary Anna Davis Bauknecht died in 1957.
Surviving are seven sons, Kenneth, at home, Donald, Raymond and Herbert, all of Martins Ferry, Alfred, Portage, Ind., James, Rocky Mountain, Va., and Ernest, Gary, Ind.; one daughter, Nina Mae, at home; one brother, Albert, Rayland; two sisters, Mrs. Frieda Roberts, Colerain and Mrs. Anna Huff, Battle Creek, Mich.; 13 grandchildren. A son Russell was killed in Okinawa in 1945.
Friends will be received at the Heslop Funeral Home, Martins Ferry, after 7 p.m. tonight. Funeral services will be held there Saturday at 19 a.m. with Rev. Eldon Borell officiating. Burial will be in Weeks Cemetery, Bridgeport.
