Ben owned an apartment building but then came down with polio in his early 20's. He then restored antiques and furniture. When he moved to Washington he bought a boat landing and combination sport shop restaurant. He hand made fishing boats. He in turn sold that business and owned a mobile home park for awhile. He then became a state park ranger where he stayed until he retired.

Ben loved to hunt and fish, tell tall stories and jokes. He loved nothing better than to put a good joke over on any of the family. Always with a big smile and welcome to his home. He was loved by everyone in the family.
