He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America for several years, rising to Eagle Scout. He graduated from Georgetown University and it’s School of Medicine and was Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He served as a physician in the United States Navy, attaining the rank of Lt. Commander during the Vietnam War Era. He practiced Internal and Occupational Medicine in Rhode Island and Massachusetts for 40 years. He was a communicant of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Cranston.
Besides his wife, Dr. Allendorf is survived by his brother and sister in law, Dr. and Mrs. Dennis J. Allendorf of Englewood, New Jersey and his brother in law and sister in law, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Kent of Ellington, Connecticut, as well as several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 10:00 am in Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 175 Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston. Burial will follow in R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Calling Hours are respectfully omitted.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Ave., Suite 2, Norwood, MA 02062 would be appreciated.
