Taken from Elk Valley Times. "Estelle Pogue Franklin, 87, of Hillview Blvd., Fayetteville, died Wednesday morning (February 7, 2001) in Oakwood Nursing Home in Lewisburg. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late James Vincent and Constance Hagood Pgoue. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Lutheran Church. Survivors include two daughters, Connie Parkes of Fayetteville and Shannon Ward of Millen, Georgia; two sisters, Shannon Smith of Birmingham and Jimmie Hale of Cedar Bluff, Alabama; one brother, William A. Pogue of Birmingham; five grandchildren, Bobby Parkes, Jr. of Fayetteville, John Parkes of Madison, Alabama, Rhes Reeves, Laura Reeves Withers, and Wade Ward, all of Millen, Georgia; and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Friday morning at Riverview Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Kirk Smith and Mike McCown officiating. Burial was in Riverview memorial Gardens beside her late husband, William Flenoy Franklin, Jr., who died in 1989. Higgins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements."
