Betty Louise Hunley, (Yarnell), 85, passed away at her home on August 12, 2014 at 5:45 pm.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, SSG US Marine Corp Ret. Lonzo B. Hunley Jr; parents, Harry and Martha Yarnell; brother, Harry Yarnell, Jr.; sisters, Agnes Yarnell Mikels and Hazel Yarnell Braswell.

Betty graduated from Knoxville High School and spent 20 years traveling as a military wife. As her children moved out, she became a nurse and retired from Baptist Hospital.
In 1975, Betty and L.B. started taking in Vietnamese refugees and were host family for International Students at U.T.
In the last few years, Betty worked with African refugees through Bridge Refugee Services.
Betty was an active member of Stock Creek Baptist Church and filled hundreds of shoe boxes for Franklin Graham's Operation Christmas Child.

Betty chose to be cremated and a celebration of life will be held at Stock Creek Baptist Church on August 16, 2014 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers make donations to the Free Medical Clinic at 6209 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920.
