Wilburn Esters Cox March 12, 1930 - April 19, 2016 Murrells Inlet Wilburn Esters Cox, 86, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at his home.

Mr. Cox was born March 12, 1930, in Williamsburg County, SC, son of the late Rev. Wilburn Samuel and Effie Mae Stone Cox.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Pamela W. Stafford. Esters managed several hotels along the Grand Strand.

He loved fishing with his grandchildren, hunting, football and racing.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Benton Cox; his children, Linda C. Purvis, Janet C. Schultz (Bill), Susan Craven (Kenneth), Deborah Mixon, Jan Everett Williams and Kim Evans Williams (Gail). He is also survived by five sisters, Barbara, Catherine, Rebecca, Lillian, and Darnell; two brothers, Jerry and Samuel; sixteen grandchildren, and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 23, 2016, at McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach, with burial following at Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: American Cancer Society , 950-48th Ave N. Suite 101, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
