Pfafftown - Elizabeth Helsabeck, died Friday, April 15, 2016. She was born in Forsyth County on February 28, 1928 to Nathan Benjamin and Lou Binkley Sprinkle. In her early years, she was a member of Christ Moravian Church. When her family moved to Tobaccoville, they attended Mizpah Moravian Church, where she met Arthur Alex Helsabeck. She sang in the choir and made lifelong friendships. She was valedictorian of her graduating class from Old Richmond School in Tobaccoville. On December 24, 1946, she was married to Arthur Alex Helsabeck in Bethania Moravian Church by the late Bishop George Higgins. To that union were born Brenda, Sharon, and Alex. She and Arthur eventually moved to Old Town. They moved their membership to Fairview Moravian, where they were both active members. Later on, they moved to Calvary Moravian where her membership is today. She loved her Calvary family dearly. Elizabeth worked for and retired from Crown Drugs Old Town Pharmacy where she had a wonderful group of friends who became like family. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Arthur, as well as her parents and sister, Esther Sprinkle Simmons. Surviving are her three children Brenda Welch, Sharon Gentry (Wade), and Arthur Alex Helsabeck, Jr.; five grandchildren, Scott Gentry (Marti), Michael Gentry (Katie), Deirdre Hudgins (Bill), Drew Welch (Kristi), Billy Welch (Buffy); and six great-grandchildren, Maya, Lydia, Jacob and Eva Gentry, Reece and Paige Welch. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Moravian Church. Burial will follow at Salem Moravian Graveyard. Memorials may be made to Calvary Moravian Church, 600 Holly Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC 27101. The family would like to express special thanks to Elizabeth's caregivers at Vienna Village and the ministerial staff at Calvary Moravian Church for their constant love and care of our mother.
